Stella started preschool today in the Orange Room (the 2s class) at Kings Bay Y at North Williamsburg, where Ava went for 3 years. She's only going two half-days on Tuesdays and Fridays, but we had a "Phase-In" today with half her class to help her warm up to the new environment. She only went for a half half-day today, and I stayed with her the whole time.
After we dropped Ava off at school with Porkchop, we had some time to watch Dinosaur Train and relax a bit before school.
She was apprehensive but also excited to go. The school is very familiar to her, so that helped quite a bit.
She met her two teachers Yarixa and Robyn on Tuesday, when they came by for a quick home visit.
She did great for the first hour -- she played with Magnatiles, animals, and a puzzle. She interacted with other kids and with her teacher. She also helped clean up.
But then she got a little overwhelmed and decided to pout on the floor and hide in the corner during snack time. Once the other kids left the table, she was ready for her snack, but they had moved on to storytime which she wasn't interested in.
She clutched on to my leg for our short walk home.
